41.9kWh Battery Storage Install – Norwich, Norfolk

Barrington Solar recently commissioned a smart battery storage system for a client just outside Norwich, Norfolk, helping them take greater control of their energy usage and reduce their homes running costs.  

The client has a high energy demand driven by an air source heat pump and electric vehicle charging. They wanted to explore practical ways to lower their overall costs. This could be achieved by load shifting.  

Load shifting involves moving energy usage from peak demand times to periods when electricity is cheaper and more readily available. This is often achieved by running high-consumption appliances – such as heat pumps, electric vehicle chargers, or battery storage systems – during off-peak hours. By shifting demand in this way, households can reduce energy costs, ease pressure on the grid, and make better use of renewable energy when it is most abundant. 

In addition to completing the full installation, Barrington Solar provided guidance on tariff switching and helped select the most suitable energy tariff to maximise savings. 

The installation consisted of:  
·        1 x Fox ESS KH7 Hybrid Inverter 
·        9 x Fox ESS EQ4800 Batteries

Providing 37.75kWh of useable energy storage.

Project impact

In this case, the client plans to shift their entire daily load to off-peak periods from spring through to autumn, storing and utilising lower-cost electricity. Through the winter months, the system will help to offset a high percentage of their winter consumption onto the cheaper night rate. As a result, they are anticipating annual savings in the region of £2,000.
