60kWp Solar Install for Local Charity

Barrington Solar recently completed a solar installation for a local charity applying for the VCSE Government Grant. We designed a system to fit within the schemes restrictions to eliminate as much energy costs as possible, whilst reducing their carbon footprint.

The installation consisted of 96 x 625W solar PV panels mounted on East / West facing roofs. These panels were connected to 2 x 25kW three-phase hybrid inverters. A 37.28kW battery storage system was also integrated, enabling the storage of excess solar energy generated during the day for use in the evening. Additionally, the system supports load shifting during winter months by leveraging off-peak tariffs.

This 60kWp PV system was carefully positioned to optimise solar generation, with an estimated annual output of nearly 45.5 MWh, halving the charities energy consumption.

Project impact

This installation is expected to save the charity thousands of pounds a year in energy costs, allowing that money to be spent better catering for their client and expanding their operations to assist many more people.

Feedback from customer:

At Centre 81, we started work with Barrington Solar on obtaining quotes to accompany a large VCSE bid to Central Government funds for energy efficiency.  We are now enjoying the benefits of top of the range equipment providing considerable financial savings.  Not to underplay this, if we did not have these savings, this is money we would have to find elsewhere; this is a very welcome boost to our charity.

Throughout the project we found Sebastian very easy to deal with.  Great communication and a very helpful approach alongside a high degree of professionalism helped the project run very smoothly.

We received all health and safety documentation alongside all project plans etc. in good time and collaborated well together over kick off meetings and management of risk controls.  We received good advice on making the most of the system and have acted on these measures to maximise the benefit of the installation.

Being a windy, coastal town in the East of the UK, installing large solar panels in January, we did hit some delays.  These were predicted and notified well in advance ensuring we made the best use of the time where the team could not work at height.  The project had tight timelines and was completed within these.

The team were exemplary in terms of their behaviours and managing the impact of the project on our sensitive operations.  Again, we experienced great communication between the team, ourselves and our tenants.  We found them to be considerate members of our team for the period of the project.  The completed work is super neat and the new equipment and related apps, easy to manage.

The handover of the commissioned works went well and we enjoy seeing the savings stack up.

Thank you Sebastian and the team.
