7.36kWp Solar & Storage Install for Self Build Property

Barrington Solar recently completed a solar installation for a residential client aiming to reduce both the carbon footprint and energy bills of their new build property.   The system consisted of 16 x 460W All Black solar PV panels mounted on their south facing roof. The addition of optimisers helps reduce the impact of shading from the tree line to the east and south of the installation. These panels were connected to an 8kW three-phase hybrid inverter installed in the garage. To maintain a clean and discreet appearance, all cabling between the main house and garage was buried and ducted. An expandable 13.98 kW battery storage system was integrated, enabling excess energy generated during the day to be stored for evening use. Additionally, the system supports load shifting during the winter months by leveraging off-peak energy tariffs.

This 7.36kWp PV system was carefully designed to optimise solar generation, with an estimated annual output of 5.47MWh.

Project impact

This installation is expected to heavily reduce the client’s annual bills and generate excess revenue through the Smart Export Guarantee. With proper management, the client is projected to draw minimal energy from the grid during spring to autumn, then relying primarily on stored energy during the winter, charged at a lower off-peak rate.
