Barrington Solar recently completed a solar installation for a client looking to make the most out of their all-electric lifestyle. This perfectly aligns with our vision, and we were quick to act to design a suitable system for the client within their budget.
The installation consisted of 18 x 460W All-Black solar PV panels mounted on their main south facing roof, with an additional six mounted on their East / West facing garage roofs. These panels were connected to an 8kW single-phase hybrid inverter installed in the garage. All cabling between the property and the garage was ducted, keeping a clean and aesthetic look.
An expandable 9.32kW battery storage system was also integrated, enabling the storage of excess solar energy generated during the day for use in the evening. Additionally, the system supports load shifting during winter months by leveraging off-peak tariffs.
To maximise use of the solar energy, an Eddi was installed, integrating seamlessly with the client’s existing Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), allowing excess solar generation to trigger the ASHP to operate and top up the heat in the client’s immersion tank.
Additionally, a Zappi 7kW EV charger was also installed, allowing the customer to charge their EV at cheap off-peak prices, or even charge directly from the panels on their roof.
This 8.28kWp PV system was carefully positioned to optimise solar generation, with an estimated annual output of nearly 6.85 MWh, more than the client’s energy consumption.
Project impact
This installation is expected to significantly reduce the client’s monthly bills, generating excess revenue in summer to offset winter bills. When managed correctly, the client should draw little to no energy from the grid throughout most of the summer months.
