Barrington Solar recently completed a tailored solar installation for a residential client focused on adopting sustainable energy solutions. The project was designed to significantly lower the household’s energy costs and carbon footprint while ensuring reliable and efficient energy management.
The installation included 31 high-efficiency, all-black solar PV panels mounted on east and west-facing roofs. These panels were connected to a 10.5kW single-phase hybrid inverter. An 18.64kW battery storage system was also integrated, enabling the storage of excess solar energy generated during the day for use in the evening. Additionally, the system supports load shifting during winter months by leveraging off-peak tariffs.
To further reduce reliance on grid electricity, a power diverter (EDDI) was installed to channel surplus solar energy into the client’s immersion heater, providing hot water. An EV charger (Zappi) was also included, enabling the client to charge their electric vehicle directly with solar power.
The 14.1kW PV system was carefully positioned to optimize solar generation, with an estimated annual output of nearly 10MWh and a direct consumption rate of 63%. To maintain a clean and seamless appearance, civil works were undertaken to conceal PV, transmission, and data cables, as the inverter and battery storage were located away from the main property.

This installation is expected to generate substantial electricity annually, significantly reducing the household’s reliance on grid power and cutting energy bills. By addressing the client’s immediate energy needs and supporting long-term sustainability, the system contributes to lowering carbon emissions and advancing environmental goals.
