Barrington Solar faced an unexpected and unfortunate situation with a new client. The client contacted us after being notified by their energy supplier that their solar system was no longer working, and that their FiT payments would be suspended until the issue was resolved.
We promptly sent an electrician to site for initial fault finding to identify and rectify the problem. To our surprise, we found a perfectly working inverter in the loft that had been switched off. After performing a few electrical tests and switching the inverter back on, the system began to operate as expected.
Upon further discussion with the client, it was revealed that a “representative” of a company had come to their door, claiming that their inverter was faulty, and needed to be checked. After inspecting the inverter, the “representative” informed the client that the inverter was broken and needed to be replaced immediately for several thousand pounds. Fortunately, when the “representative” returned the next day, the clients wisely chose not to answer the door. It was only 4 months later, when contacted by their energy supplier, that the client realised their solar array had stopped working.
This incident highlights the importance of verifying the credibility of service providers and seeking second opinions before proceeding with costly repairs or replacements. At Barrington Solar, we are committed to providing honest, reliable service to ensure our clients’ systems operate efficiently and effectively.

Feedback from customer:
“When we were approach by the other company, we were concerned at the high price quoted of £4,900 of replacing the inverter which aroused our suspicion plus the fact that when they arrived, they parked their car way out of our sight, which we didn’t realise until they left. This was another reason in which we decided not to answer the door the next day when they came back. We even left our car at a friend’s house out of sight, round the back of our property.
We very much appreciate the assistance of Barrington Solar and the service they provided in helping us overcome the situation.”
