14.19kWp Renewable Solution on a Contemporary Home

In our commitment to advancing sustainability, we undertook an ambitious project with a forward-thinking residential client eager to transform their energy usage. The request from our client was to be “off grid” as much as possible.  Therefore, our aim was to implement a comprehensive renewable energy solution encompassing solar power generation, energy storage, electric vehicle charging, water heating and system optimization.

The project featured the installation of 33 high-efficiency solar PV panels across 4 roofs, linked with 2 x 8kW single-phase Hybrid inverters and a substantial 48kW battery storage system. Tigo optimisers were utilised to maximize system efficiency, reducing impacts of shading and maximising solar generationTo ensure the client can make the most out of their solar generation, a MyEnegi Zappi and Eddi were installed. This enables the client to use surplus solar energy to charge their electric vehicle and heat their hot water.  To protect the client from regular power cuts, we included Emergency Power Supply (EPS) on the property’s key circuits. During grid outages, the stored energy from the batteries run these circuits enabling the client to still use these key circuits until the issue is corrected.

After meticulous planning and site assessments, the installation proceeded smoothly. The east, south and west -facing roof accommodated the solar panels effectively, while the hybrid inverters and battery storage ensured optimal energy management. With the integrated EV charger, the client now charges their electric vehicle using solar power, reducing their dependence on the grid. The EPS and EDDI systems further enhance energy usage efficiency and reliability.

Project impact

The comprehensive setup is projected to generate significant annual savings by reducing grid dependency and lowering electricity bills for the household and EV, alongside a substantial reduction in carbon emissions.

Feedback from customer:

“Our new solar and battery storage system has transformed how we think about energy. We’re generating more than enough electricity to power our home and charge our EV, and the backup systems give us peace of mind during and potential outages. Barrington Solar’s approach was a fresh experience compared to the other companies we had approached.  Their expertise and thorough approach in both the design integration with our contemporary home and subsequent installation with strategically hidden cables makes it look like the system has always been there!  We would recommend Barrington Solar without hesitation!”
